#6480 Tempest Mexicake (Scotland) My dude Fred linked me with two bottles of this over the winter, and I’ve been excited to try it. A few months ago when I was cleaning out the fridge, I knocked one of the bottles over and it smashed all over the kitchen floor. I was devo as, but fortunately I had a second bottle and finally I’m getting it in me. Hailing from Scotland, Tempest put together his Mexican imperial stout with Ceylon cinnamon, vanilla beans, cocoa, and Mulato + Chipotle chillies. It pours like rich melted chocolate with an espresso head and a chocolatey nose, it’s incredibly thick and silky, the bitter dark chocolate hits up front with some vanilla chasing behind, a touch of spice from the cinnamon, while the peppers deliver mild heat and some smokiness (which tbh I don’t love generally but it works here), wrapping in a slightly sweet, dusty, smoky finish.
