Great set. Lots of playability and a fun construction. Brilliant wheels which will find many uses and are surprisingly light weight.
Multimedia Text Message: 60181 Part 2
In my last post I mentioned about the £4.50 charge I incurred for a multimedia text message I did not request. I did some research on the Internet and it happens that an app called “Battery SuperCharger” which I downloaded to my smartphone was the originator of the text message, and unless I send STOP to 60181 I will be billed every month for £4.50.
The irony is that Google Play, formerly known as Android Market recommended this app to me. This is clearly a rip-off and an unethical means of generating revenue, it amazes me why should apps like this exist in the app store, and not only that, it was promoted by Google Play. There has been many complaints on the web about the company that owns this number.
So here is how we are going to get Battery SuperCharger to stop their actions. Go to Google Play and give the app a 1 star rating and mention in the comments that this app will cost you a £4.50 multimedia text message every month if you download it to your smartphone. If enough of us do this maybe it will get the person or company who owns the app to change its ways.
Going forward my advice is that we should all read the terms and conditions before downloading an app. If you know of any app that scams you through premium multimedia text messages, share it with us and let fellow readers take action, there is power in numbers.
Multimedia Text Message: 60181
I have just received my phone bill for March and on my account there is a multimedia text message for text number 60181. It said I requested the text message which cost me 12pence and the text message was sent which cost me £4.50. Now I know I am not suffering from memory loss but I can confirm I did not request this message and my phone was in my possession on this day, but I can guarantee when I call orange, the company will refute my claims and say I made the call.
So here is my beef with Orange, I am sure it would had have many complaints about this number 60181, but because multimedia text messages like this are a major source of income to Orange they would rather defend the company that brings in the cash, than their customers. To keep any statistical data regarding customer complaints on specific numbers like 60181 is counter productive, and impacts the bottom line so why do anything at all?
The government is unwilling to intervene because of reasons best known to it, but this will soon change because I want this blog to be the voice that protects the mobile user rights. As I said in my first post I cannot do this by myself, I need your support. This experience is not limited to Orange alone, other companies like Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and Three are all in on the act and enough is enough things have to change.
