setting. myorda, a steampunk inspired city. myorda is situated on a peninsula beneath veiskar, with tepas to the southwest, and skajgr to the east.

summary.
a king is dead and myorda has been thrown into upheaval. as general vanenki seizes the throne in the wake of the slaughter of the royal family, dark magic begins to spread through the city, corrupting everything it touches. the gods have been gone for over two centuries, but still a whisper spreads through the underground: the gods have forsaken myorda.
(in the wake, an illegitimate prince escapes from the palace and runs for his life as a fate weaver cleans her sword of the mad king’s blood.)
two years later, a boy who plays at a saint has a vision that leads him to myorda and the king of the underground world there, ruler of the thieves, assassins, and criminals, who goes by the pseudonym ‘the devil.’ a legend, a whisper, of a man without a shadow, one who will give you whatever it is you desire, for a cost.
throughout myorda, a playing board tips: a prince turned fugitive falls into the rebellion, the daughter of a general becomes a spy, two assassins collide, and an identity thief returns to the place he belongs.
the gods are reawakening, a revolution is stirring, and blood will be spilled across myorda. dangerous deals are made - but the devil always collects what is owed, no matter the price.
the gods have forsaken myorda, but not its people.
characters.
nikita kall. kingslayer. a fallen noble turned revolutionist, nikita is haunted by the mad king’s dying words and the destruction that has befallen myorda as a result of the choice she chose to make two years ago.
luc ri’jares. kingson. the former heir to a bloody throne, luc has been running for his life every single day for the past two years. there’s a bounty on his head worth more than his father’s crown; his whole life, he’s tried to camouflage himself in order to survive, but now the world seems determined to make him stand out.
aleksander ‘sasha’ triaü. devil. sasha wants for nothing but one thing: vengeance. vengeance, and the soul he sold long ago, when he was drowning in the waters of an unrelenting sea.
adelia ‘elia’ svari. mockingbird. a deadly weapon, all elia wishes is to bring success to her country and make her mother proud. she is a sword, not a girl, even if her one failure is her inability to absolve the years old blood on her hands.
octavius nau. the great onja. a boy raised by the mysterious prophets of tepas from a young age, oct has lived a sheltered life, worshipped as the last living saint by the people, haunted by the terrifying prophecies he dreams of at night.
mazarin ‘maz’ vanenki. mastermind. the only daughter of a militant family, maz strives to prove herself to her family as an equal. her greatest desire is to unmask the devil and kill the man - or woman - behind it.
keir uzaxua. namestealer. keir searches for identity. for all the ones he has made for his clients, his true self eludes him. a child of war and the last warrior of his decimated tribe, keir carries a legacy on his back almost too heavy to bear.
saya yskir. blade. an immigrant, runaway, fugitive, saya is one of many who have reinvented themselves in the complicated patchwork streets of myorda. however, he has never been safe for long, and even now, his past is catching up.
