One of my oldest ReAction figures. This was a random blind box pull, and I got my favorite design on the first try. I love the gorgeous translucent green. Along with that beautifully detailed sculpt, and the way it catches the light, it really pops on a shelf.

I couldn't resist showing off the whole table for this toy, it just elevates any vignette.

One Day One Shot+

Appearing again on TokuToy Impact - it might be my favorite ReAction figure, hands down. So forgive all the repeat showings.

Incredible colors and sculpting. The turtle skin texture on this is fantastic.

And it's still available at retail.

Top recommendations - especially if you can find him on sale.

And for argument's sake, let's just assume "one shot a day every day" applies to weekdays only for this week, lol...

(And then off course I neglect to update either of these past two days on Tumblr. No wonder I struggle to grow a following; I'm bad at this lmao)

Quick Shot

A very quick one today. Busy season is still upon us, unfortunately.

And we're also in the middle of an algorithm slump over on Insta - with our posts getting recommended less than usual, and engagement down as a result.

So what better way to combat that than posting something that traditionally doesn't do great!

But I don't care. I love these little figures. And the bootleg-inspired colorways on these Universal Monsters are right in my wheelhouse.

These toys scratch a similar itch to mass-retail Sofubi for me - simplified designs, creatively designed, and fun colors - the purest example of what makes a toy.

Full disclosure- I hate the way these pictures came out. This was from the last shoot I did before I bought the new lights I showed off back on [May 26th] - The lighting in my apartment gives my shots this awful green and yellow tint.

Usually I can combat this with creative lighting angles and post-processing. But this one wouldn't budge. And all the digital editing on the world couldn't save it.

Super7 ReAction and 5POA Finds

More Super7 ReAction pickups - and a Star Wars Retro Collection figure I couldn't resist.

Neon Frankenstein was the first Luminators/Bootleg inspired ReAction figure I saw, but I was never able to find him in person until now. Absolutely incredible colors. Gorgeous box art.

I might pick up another to display in package.

The McBain Simpsons figure was a big surprise. I've never seen these in the wild. Then they suddenly show up at the store near my office - on clearance - to make room for the new Troy McClure line.

Fun packaging, but I wish they did more on the back to homage Kenner's run of toys from R-rated properties.

Prototype Luke Skywalker speaks for itself. An esoteric extremely niche release in initially-repellant colors with a chrome foil package? Sign me up immediately. This one is going up on the wall as-is. Stunning presentation from a company known for lackluster packaging (I still had to peel off that awful Retro sticker)

And lastly, the Parks and Rec figures. Fun, but ultimately very plain.

My partner is a huge fan of the show, and these were on deep discount to make room for wave 2.

Accessories are very neat - but the packaging is not. I didn't even take photos of the back, they were so painfully boring.

On another note, the figures of Aubrey Plaza and Rashida Jones (not pictured) are very pale compared to their actual actresses. Which is especially noticeable when packaged next to a photo of them. Pretty lame.

ReAction Super7 Showcase 2

Kwinn and Baroness

Yet another showcase of Super 7 ReAction figures.

My first impression of the GI Joe series was very positive, but Kwinn and Baroness show off impressively accurate Sunbow summation designs. It's hard to tell from pictures, but something about these toys just captures that classic 80s animation feel.

And another thing I need to bring up about this batch of ReAction figures - great accessories. Every figure comes with something at the very least, and Sardaukar comes with more accessories than they can hold.

And all of the figures pictured here can securely hold their weapons - something that can't be said about all ReAction releases.

Speaking of Sardaukar, the David Lynch version of Dune isn't a perfect movie. But it's an extremely memorable one. And I can't pass up a figure from a Lynch movie. Now Super7 just needs to make an Eraserhead baby and we're set.

I'm always raving about the sculpts on these toys, and I realize that might seem outlandish - especially compared to some of the gorgeous Banpresto statues, Figuarts, and SIC figures that I show here - but the beauty is in the subtly. Little decisions, efficient textures and proportions make these stand out among many other companies' attempts at retro figures.

They look just as much like classic cartoons as they do retro Kenner action figures.
