#snow is #5of6 in this series. Maybe I have a thing about #snowwhite? I wasn’t really aware of it, but I seem to have a done a couple of Snow White pieces lately. Maybe it is more subconsciously to do with my complicated feelings about #Disney. I admire #waltdisney the man as a storyteller, risk-taker and salesman, but I also think he exploited his artists. As I kid I loved Disney films, but later (around about the time I stopped liking sugar in my tea) I started to find I really disliked all the excessive cuteness they smother all over everything. I’m glad that they are making more Star Wars, but so far I don’t love the results. I really hate what they did to the muppets. What about the marvel movies? I seem to enjoy those when I first see them, but find them rather boring on a second viewing. It feels like they are the corporation where great properties go to die. However, if they ever wanted to buy anything of mine, I’d doubtless sell out in an instant 😆 ... fortunately that’s not likely to ever happen. I guess I’ll take the #Disneyfied version over no version of these things, but they knock off all the rough edges and turn everything into something much less interesting, funny or cool. Maybe it’s the funny that I’m really missing. They really seem to be incapable of being genuinely funny... except in the case of early Donald Duck. I probably wouldn’t care so much if they didn’t own EVERYTHING... and cause so many artists to spend so much time emulating them... but then I probably would be doing what I do if it wasn’t for them. 🤔 Well that’s my rant for the day.
