“ come on… ” i whispered, enraptured, as the numbers went up, and up again. “ come on you stupid bastard… ” s o l d . the anxious anticipation melted from my face and i grinned, devilishly, before finally turning in my chair to face him, the smile losing some of it’s edge and becoming something a little sunnier when my eyes landed on him.
i had just found the job of the year, and nothing he was about to say could ruin my mood. “ alright, what do you want, let me guess. ” i narrowed my eyes as i stared at him, dissecting the look on his face for a long moment before letting out a sigh, “ nope, impossible to tell. you're just going to have to confess your deepest darkest truth the old fashioned way. ”
i pushed up out of my seat, closing the laptop and scooping up the mug that sat beside it in one fluid motion. “ you want coffee? would that cheer you up? ”
