Hello! I have a 4C type hair u know NO CURLS AT ALL. My hair is really thick and Im at BC+3 and I have a big problem: each time I do a wash-n go my hair shrink a lot (:'( :'() but I also have a lot of knots in my hair ! What can I do for dat ? I dont like detangling because I always lost a lot of hair despite all the care I do .
Hey!!! First...what BC+3? On the the other stuff I’m familiar with lol. Shrinkage...thats just the nature of naturally textured hair my dear. I for one have never done a wash and go for that reason. My hair shrinks up terribly and the different textures throughout my head are oh so obvious, making for a crazy look i can’t pull off lol. So what i do i plan ahead, if i have a whole day free i get started on my hair early in the day. Do my wash routine and twist up as per usual. Once dry i undo the twist and retwist. So when i wear my hair out i have day 2 bigness. Got me? Also i do the banding method in sections the way i want my hair to fall. The longer you band the better in most cases. Not so much for me since my hair is fine and length is a trade off for curls or definition. You say you have no curls, Are you familiar with CharyJay from 160days2lose? She does amazing things with her faintly textured natural hair! About the single strand knots, I’m plagued with them as well!!! Im not one that can leave them alone. Im trying to be ok with the fact that that too is just the nature of textured hair and no matter how much you trim them as you go you will have them still. But i do manage them well. Whenever i find myself watching tv and have a case of hand I’m hair syndrome i make sure i have a pair of trimming sheers to trim the knots i find. I focus on them a section at a time over a period of time. It doesn’t matter if i get to my whole head in a week or so...i just overall don’t want to hear that popping sound one hears when they detangle their hair. I have a friend with really thick hair and she recommends not using a comb so often, mostly finger detangle in the shower or whenever your hair is damp or moisturized. If you use a comb do it like once every couple of weeks or however long is good for you. Also about the knots, when my hair is moisturized really well i get less so make moisture a focus. Be sure to use thicker products to lock in your moisture like Qhemet biologics, pricy but a little goes a long way and worth the price.
