#repost • @elenberg_fraser 27/42 0312_Huski   For our second day at the snow we’re exploring Huski, a unique snowflake in Australian alpine accommodation.   Huski was designed to stand in differentiation to the clichéd alpine architecture found in Australia’s skifields. Situated in Falls Creek, we wanted to design a building that not only responded to, but became a part of the natural landscape: a building that the snow could sit into.   The wedged shape site lent itself to a radiating floorplan – the form evokes the European sauna with timber boxes arrayed across the façade, but we didn’t just explore European alpine architecture.   Through months of gruelling and arduous research skiing slopes across the world, Huski was born an international design hotel featuring the amenity of a North American condo hotel with the personal touches of a European Pensionne.   With the tourism concept of ‘togethering’ in mind, where families holiday in larger groups with other families or their extended family, we designed several typologies for the 14 apartments in Huski – studios, two, three and four bedroom penthouses. The floorplan configuration caters for various combinations of guest groups, who are able to book out single or adjacent apartments.   Huski - Aspen meets St Christoph, half Arlberg Hospiz,  half Hotel Jerome. #repost • @elenberg_fraser 23/42 13030_388 William St Welcome to the future of the post covid workplace - where we all need a reason to go back into the office.   Our version of the future of workplace is supported by the amenity of a hotel.  A great hotel - Melbourne’s new SoSofitel hotel.   388 William street is Melbourne's first work/hotel hybrid, or Wotel as its know at Elenberg Fraser.   With conventional wisdom abandoned, guests at SO Sofitel are getting more than a place to crash and a mini-bar to raid. Hotel rooms transition into flexible workspaces that encourage collaboration and autonomy.   Here, there is no hierarchy and voyeurism is not a dirty word. Workers levitate to upper levels in glass elevators, looking out as others look in. Ballroom guests watch people come and go, just as they’re watched from above. Silhouetted figures criss-cross the massive glazed skylights punched through the atrium’s roof, peering down at the activity eleven stories beneath their feet.   This is the sweet spot for the hotel guests and international businesswomen and men who’ll stay here, and the office workers who’ll see this place as their second home… 388 William is a place where the line between work and play doesn’t exist.   Sure, you’re at work. But it doesn’t really feel like it.
