Restaurant Day is a one-day carnival in favor of free-spirited restaurant and food culture. The first Restaurant Day was organized on 21 May 2011 and the second one on 21 August 2011. The event has taken Finland by storm, with 180 restaurants popping up last time. The next Restaurant Day will take place on Saturday 19 November 2011. Restaurant Day is a day when anyone and everyone is encouraged... to open a pop up restaurant, café or bar. Just for the day. The quirkier the concept, the better. No permissions, no rules, just plain fun. Why? Because you're worth it, because we love food, and because every city needs more no-strings fun. Hop on board and join dozens of enthusiastic restauranteurs – now catering to thousands of food and fun lovers all around Finland, and hopefully around the world! This is how you join in: Choose a location. It can be anywhere: in your home, at your office, in the park, on the beach. It’s Restaurant Day, you get to choose! Respect others, but go wild. Now create a concept. As simple as a juice bar on your favorite street corner – or as extravagant as a sandwich bar lowering baskets from a high window, a late night raw food kiosk, a prohibition-style speakeasy in a hat shop, or haute cuisine intestines in a courtyard. We've already seen a lot, and look forward to more. Then: share your restaurant’s details with us, and you’re good to go. We’ll collect the information and share it with the eager restaurant-goers!
