"I can’t think straight around you." Quade admitted finally, with such emphasis it was as though an enormous weight had been lifted off of him.
Ada glanced up, her processor trying to parse the words and the inflection he chose to use, her eyes flickering to his face and a question forming on her lips. "Quade, wh-"
The flash of pain should've been expected, but it caught her off guard, the spike of it forcing her eyes shut as her hands came up to her temples, pressing .
- the spike of pain had make the administrator hold his head and it was surprisingly pleasant, having her care for him, but also the pain was driving him insane. "Just the pains of missing programming," he assured her. He spat over the edge of the roof, hating to show his weakness in front of her like this. Fuck, it was the admin, she probably didn't care - "They did a sloppy job, took out more than licensing." He tried to smile but it twisted with the next stab of pain from the glitch. "I'm lucky I don't crash on a regular basis." He managed a sheepish smile. "I'll be fine, right?" And she flinched but nodded and brushed his hair back -
She gasped, looking up at Quade. "S-sorry." She was aware that her hands were trembling and she wanted to ask him to hold her up but with the current glitching, that would probably hurt more.
"You - what?" she peered up at him from under her fingers, her brow furrowing in confusion. All the extra space she usually used to think was currently being eaten up with new memories, and her ability to really comprehend was suffering.
Not that she was ever good at picking up on such subtle hints, but this was worse than usual.
