Green fingers, start potting! [Video]
Set the scene. You love both 3D printing and gardening. How do you combine the two? By printing stuff you for plants of course!
3D printed aqueduct in the window
These two designs are only available from Shapeways but serve as great inspiration for your creative side.
Our first funky example is a 3D printed aqueduct pots. These are designed to be hung up and feed the water from top to bottom and as you can see in the picture, looks spectacular in the window. If you designed your own version or variant of this for your own printer, I think you could get some really cool results.
For instance, you could print the pots in a range of colours and when setting up create a rainbow effect, or maybe a chess board style pattern.
The second novel design, is a 3D printed ‘Sprout’ for a bottle. This design had a lot of thought put into it and really shows off what you can achieve with additive manufacturing. It acts as a funnel when filling the bottle and as a neat watering can spout.
This is a perfect example of ‘upscyling‘ and repurpoing existing objects and giving them a new lease on life. In the past we posted on how you use cans and 3D printed parts as weights, if you missed it click here.
Watch the video below if you want to see the ‘Sprout’ in action.
