IM LAUGHIGn SO HFUKCIGN HARD OH MY GOD
the clock is w i s e
hey, why do u like sensei so much. im actually reading it now (1st few chapters) but felt biased against him cuz of all the hate i saw before reading it. now i feel i need some positivity to balance the negativity so that im unbiased again and can continue reading it.
/cracks knuckles
/rubs hands
There might be some spoilers but here's a link to all my essays to messages asking why I'm so Shishio-biasedĀ in detailĀ // it's linked on my blog btw
If you don't read all that -- I'm just going to list the main points as to why I think there's so much (imo ignorant and uncalled for) sensei hate (spoilers):
He's the main male lead and shoujo manga structure dictates some major character flaw that the second lead does not have. Sensei had to make a choice that many fans would not agree with in order to win support for the second lead and sympathy for the competing ship, or it wouldn't be much of a love triangle, everyone would just ship the main two. This one's a pretty general point that explains why there will always, always be hate against a shoujo's main guy. Second lead doesn't make the same mistake because he's already at a disadvantage by not having the heroine's affections yet.
There's an 8-year age difference between Shishio and Suzume. People overlooking the fact that 16 is the legal age in Japan, so sensei can't really be accused of pedophilia like a lot of people claim. 8 years is high, sure, but what I think matters more to the pairing is their teacher/student relationship, which I think is more controversial than their age gap tbh.Ā
Would you stab a longtime close friend in the back by dating the kid they're the guardian of after they've told you clearly to stay away? Shishio's not a kid and kids usually make decisions based on their feelings alone without worrying about the outcome. It's clear from the Tsubomi chapters that Shishio and Suzume's uncle have known each other for years, and the uncle's considered Shishio to be Suzume's guardian away from home. He's even let sensei into their house a couple times with Suzume (first when sensei carried her home and another time to help Suzume study). Finding out their relationship would have meant a possibly violent end to that friendship (did you see the look on the uncle's face holy shit) and an end to Shishio's career. Shishio took all that into account when he made his decision, and probably also considered Suzume's freedom as a youth, and how he might limit that for her.Ā
Shishio isn't all goofy smiles and lame jokes. He's a very good teacher, well-liked by all his students, and actually has a no-nonsense and protective personality like Suzume, but without her naivete. Recall the time (early in the manga before Suzume and Yuyuka were friends) he told Suzume to her face that Yuyuka was lying to her, and Yuyuka wasn't the friend Suzume thought she was. Not many teachers would have been honest like that. Also, the time he saw a guy (Togyuu) seemingly messing with Suzume and ran over without a second thought (Togyuu noticed he was breathless). When Suzume was first having trouble making friends, Shishio didn't baby her or blow her off either. He guided her with advice on how to change her hesitant mentality and just go with the flow. I think sensei would be the perfect guidance for Suzume to help her navigate her teenage years and beyond, since he's already faced it. I hate it when people blow him off as a childish man oh my gOD.Ā
Shishio's already had a (probably intimate) relationship, and some girls who look for the one-girl only type of shoujo guy probably can't stand it. But wtf that's hella unrealistic and judgemental.Ā
In comparison to Shishio, Mamura's emotions show a lot more clearly on his face, and a lot of fans find that adorable, whereas Shishio's better at masking his emotions. But it's blatant that Shishio's hurt as much as anyone else by things, he's just phenomenally mature about handling them. After Tsubomi bascically left him alone in the cold and just showed up again years later like "yo", he readily forgave her and understood it was because of her whimsical personality, but he was hurt by being deserted, and it stayed with him. (In the latest chapter) it's shown pretty clearly he's really affected by how quickly Suzume appears to have moved on, but he feels he has no right to show that vulnerability in front of her nor anyone else. He's had a lot of reasons not to give his feelings away or be too romantic, which doesn't make him very endearing to a lot of girls. He's also awkward in a different way than the cutely awkward way Mamura's portrayed in.
Long story short, I think sensei's a very responsible and good man, and similar in many ways to Suzume (like the deadpan yet silly personality) which makes them compatible. He doesn't deserve the shit the fandom gives him, which is for his realistic decision. He doesn't have an unrealistically flawless personality or sudden personality change like most shoujo guys, and he's been hurt enough I really don't wanna see it anymore jcjfjfjjfcjfjc #teamsensei
akashi/ogiwara and kuroko/reader (haha) if u feel like it
Another challenging one! Ā I didnāt do the second request simply because āReaderā is a little too vague for me. The answers to all of these are really dependent on both personalities and so having one totally blank makes it really impossible. Ā
THAT BEING SAID. I tried my hand at Akashi/Ogiwara and. Ā yeah. Ā
What was their first kiss like?
OK so this is less a headcanon and more the plot of a College AU because fuck if I know where Ogiwara went but uni is a great place to reunite with people who crushed your dreams in middle school. Theyāre in the same program at Uni and Ogiwara recognizes Akashi immediately because how do you not also he hasnāt grown since middle school //shot.Ā He remembers the feeling of being looked down on and at first I think he definitely still carries that image of Akashi with him, which isnāt exactly wrong because even if Akashi had learned to enjoy basketball again and realized that he doesnāt need to define himself as the personification of success, heās probably still gonna be an arrogant lil shit until his dying days.Ā
But anyway Akashi doesnāt remember Ogiwara at all really because heās spent all of his whole school career crushing dreams and thereās a point where you just cannot remember all the hopeless faces. That being said if youāre off the court and not somehow in competition with him, Akashiās not actually a bag of dicks so.Ā So they get assigned to a project together or something which is kind of like being on the same team actually and Ogiwara gets to experience firsthand why it is that people get so wrapped up in Akashi and then???/ He gets a smooch and Akashi isnāt really one for explaining himself so Ogiwara just sort of figures heās going to have to accept that this is a thing that might happen sometimes, which is surprisingly easy to do.
Where were they their first time having sex?
I bet Akashi has a positively decadent apartment but they absolutely never go there because Akashi (bless him) is still a bit self-conscious about the whole rich kid thing and also heās pretty sure if he brings anyone home his father will know and fuck if heās letting his family interfere with this.Ā Nonetheless he is a bit of a rich kid snob thing who is Very Suspicious of the cleanliness of dormitories so they bang in the back of Akashiās huge-ass foreign-made car instead, where Akashi realizes (to his own horror) that heās not actually sure he will be the Very Best at sex, which leads him to be especially deliberate and thoughtful in everything he does the whole time and yeah turns out heās the Very Best at sex too.Ā Ogiwara is not even surprised and is definitely not complaining.Ā
Whoās louder?
Theyāre not terribly loud, but Ogiwara has a bit less self-control.Ā But Akashi sort of.Ā Whimpers??? Sometimes and if Ogiwara didnāt know better heād think Akashi wasnāt aware of it but itās Akashi so he has to be right?Ā Right???
Who wakes up first?
Akashi, of course.Ā
Who performs/receives oral more often?
Akashi almost canāt help but make it a competition bless.
Who tries new things more often?
Ogiwara.Ā While Akashi was out being a minor sports deity, Ogiwara was out being an actual teenage boy so heās thought of these things.
If they had to choose a third+ person to include who would they include?
Akashi would be offended by the implication that Ogiwara might need/want anyone outside of himself and Akashi doesnāt share anyway and if the topic did come up heād snidely suggest Kuroko and Ogiwara would punch him so hard and the issue would never ever be spoken of again.Ā Ā Ā Ā
talk to me abt that akashi family pic. say something. i dont know what. anything. over analyze it.
(I ACTUALLY DON'T WANT TO OVER-ANALYZE THIS BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT AKASHI'S PERSONAL LIFE BEING VERY, VERY SAD. *SOBS* I'll keep it short.)
Since it was stated before that Akashi only has his father as family, and seeing as how their old family picture is displayed in their dining room, I think it's safe to say that Akashi's mom had already passed away. (Before, I was thinking maybe his parents were just divorced, but... *cries* ...guess not.)
"Yet one who must dedicate themselves solely to his studies in order to achieve high scores is useless. Extra-curricular activies are also necessary."
The photo was conveniently shown when these particular lines were said, which I think could refer to how Akashi has been taught and trained to be good at everything since his childhood, as Midorima talks about back in Q212.
"Only one who demonstrates excellence in both academics and sports... no, in all areas, can be considered a member of the Akashi household."
Akashi-papa's strictness is the effect of the loss of his wife, perhaps? He could have poured all his frustrations into molding the 'perfect' son as a result.
...That's all I got. ;u; /runs
