Of Mice & Men

New 2023 album. Sounds alot like they're trying to evolve, but I can't tell if its working or not. Definitely not as raw lyrics as their earlier albums, but thats to be expected with age. Trying to be more melodic metalcore, but they're just part of the money making metal machine at this point. I'm sure the album will do them everything they need in regards to remaining relevant, but its not pushing anything new to me as a listener for a decade.

With Kenny Beats. Just putting out trash and looking for $. Waste of time. Some of the lyrics were cool, but expecting more from Kenny tbh. I'd love to see how they decided to do this album. The best thing about the album may be the art.

Cults

To The Ghosts

I really did not like this one. I think Cults is a group that you really have to dive into their discography a bit more to have this album mean more, which I guess is a good thing. Coming in cold to listen just didn't work for me. The tracks really felt just watered down and bland, unfortunately. I'm looking for a rebound album from them. They need a couple more hit singles to hit the festival circuit this summer.

Weeping

Eternal Suffering In The Light Of God

Sludge/Power Death Metal. No real breakdowns and straight brutality throughout. Gets a bit boring as the tracks are all incredibly similar. Hard to really compare this to anyone as it's like every metal band I heard of. If I wanted to send someone who never heard of metal before as to what it is, I would send this album.

Weak metalcore. If I was much younger I would like this, but as my metal taste has refined I simply cannot. The melodies are super generic and brings nothing new to the table.

Hardcore progressive band from Toronto. Definitely feeling the young energy. Chaotic breakdowns although they're missing alot of song structure. Hard to keep pace and time on the EP. They for sure will be popular and was a recommendation from Reflections.

I Hear You

She's already released at least 2-3 tracks prior to this album which with only 10 tracks feels like a lot. The vocals on the tracks are in multiple languages ie. Spanish & Korean which is kinda cool and unique. However, it feels a bit like background music without much more going on; really a let down album for me since I've be a big fan of hers.
