How to get waves Step 2
Now that you have prepared your hair to get waves we will go over the process of how to get waves by training your hair. What you will need to get waves (for a full list of supplies and substitute options view the Products page): Â
• wave brush    to train the direction of your waves • hair lotion     to moisturize and enrich your hair • wave pomade  to help lay down and hold your waves • wave cap      to lay down and hold your waves during sleep • wave shampoo • wave conditioner
Step 1: Apply hair lotion to dry or slightly damp hair and brush in the direction that of how you want to get your waves to go. This will get your hair waves nice and moisturized to the root of the hair follicles.
Step 2: Apply a dollar sized amount of wave pomade to your hair in the same direction as your brushing method mentioned above.
Step 3: Soak a hand towel with hot water from the sink or after a minute or so in the microwave and wring out.
Step 4: Lay the hot towel on your hair for about one minute while applying slight pressure to let the pomade adhere to your hair follicles. This is how you will get the waves to stay in place and remain firm.Â
Step 5: Remove the towel and begin to brush in the direction of the desired waves. Start from the crown of your head and brush to the hairline in a firm controlled sweep. Continue to brush in the same direction for a minimum of 10 times to get your waves used to laying in that direction.
Step 6: Apply the wave cap for at least 30 minutes to lay down the hair waves. This is best done before bed or during time of leisure. Once you remove the wave cap you will see that you hair is now laying nice and smooth.
Step 7: Repeat the process twice a day (before bed and on the way to school or work). It will take some time, but as long as you have naturally curly hair you may be surprised how soon you will begin to get waves in your hair.
