Everyone stand up and give Berlin-based photographer Marie Staggat a round of applause. Everything you’ve heard about this book is true and it’s going to be amazing. Detroit has a strong connection with Berlin…I may be biased, but I feel like some of the best music comes out of both places :-)
So about this book. Marie has put together a phenomenal photography book capturing the essence of electronic music in Detroit. 313ONELOVE includes more than 170 portraits, along with “a string of profound stories,” interviews, quotes and drawings from musicians around and from Detroit…including yours truly :-)
The photos are focused on close-ups of our features like hands and ears—the things musicians use the most. The book is also a charity project to support children of all ages in Detroit who have a passion for music. I see you Marie! <3
313ONELOVE is set to be published on March 31st, and that night in Berlin, TELEKOM-Electronic Beats presents will host an official launch event at Tresor’s Globus room, with a set coming from the Underground Resistance live band Timeline. That’s the first place you’ll be able to secure a copy—the book will also be sold at all Carhartt WIP stores.
Another event will happen in Detroit on May 25th, during the week of Movement 2016 (woot woot!), at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCAD). Look for more information to be revealed on that soon.
“It is a love affair with electronic music.
A love affair with Detroit.”
