Relief of a Roman galley said to have taken part in the naval Battle of Actium, c. 31 BC - Found in the ruins of the temple of Fortuna Primigenia, Praeneste (Palestrina) Rome
These reliefs commemorating the Battle of Actium, won 2. September 31 BC by Agrippa for Octavian ( Later Emperor Augustus ) against Mark Antony and Cleopatra, date 1st century AD
These three are part of an 11-part marble cycle and come from an unknown building in Avellino of the Claudian period, but show important events of the Augustan Principate: the Battle of Actium, various fragments of sacrificial processions, the Triumphal Quadriga and the Tensa of Augustus. It is not sure if this relief shows the real Battle or a Naumachia (a theatrical representation)
