just started ep 16 and i'm back with another complaint
i HATE how this show normalizes fathers being weird about their daughters dating
obviously there's germán. but that could've been alright IF the show portrayed it as wrong and other characters were weirded it out by it. but the only people who are weirded out by it and are actively against it are vilu and angie pretty much. in 2x11 angie was incredibly against germán spying on vilu in the restaurant and reprimanded germán for it.
however in that same episode, the restaurant owner, i assume, is at first mad at germán for pretending to be a waiter and being a nuisance but after germán tells him violetta is his daughter, he suddenly isn't mad??? and understands???? and says he has 3 daughters???? which means this guy is either 1 also a creep who would spy or actively DOES spy on his daughters or 2 at the very least is an enabler who doesn't see anything wrong with a man spying on his daughter. and both are just as bad.
and now in 2x16 cardozo says he sees emma as a daughter which means he 'can't see her dating' WHAT? that's an insane thing to say
why is this show trying to normalize fathers being creepy with their daughters and being weird about their love lives. idk it reminds me of those creepy tiktok 'boy moms' who don't want their sons to be with women and it's bordeline emotional incest. it's gross, it's creepy and i hate it.
fathers should NOT act like this with their daughters. it's fine to not want your daughter's heart to be broken and wanting to protect her from certain men but not like this and not to this extent. it should not be hard for you to see your daughter be romantic with a man. and you should obviously NOT spy on her

so, just watched S2 ep 11 "Sex, Birth, Death" of Criminal Minds. I was so happy for a Reid centric episode!!!! Annnnndddd, then I realized that meant pain. Because of course we can't be nice to Reid just once! I mean, still enjoyed the episode but I also now need to wrap Spencer in a weighted blanket and cuddle him. Because he deserves ALL the hugs.
@skippyskellies I remember you having a post about Reid xentric episodes lol. It is unfortunate, because I want the Reid centric episodes but having one means pain for my fave.
here’s your daily violetta analysis i guess
yesterday after briefly discussing vilu’s 2x13 voy por ti dream with @weirdthoughtsandideas in the comments on one of my recent posts i really wanted to analyze it a bit further so here it is
first of all, the scene is obviously hilarious for us, the viewers, with or without context. however for vilu… it really isn’t.
throughout the last year and a half, she’s had so many people just barging into her room. some she genuinely doesn’t mind. she never minds león coming into her room (though he’s one of few the people who actually knocks), fran and cami often come in and out, but she doesn’t mind at all, they’re her best friends after all. obviously angie she’s always glad to see and so on. but there’s other people where it’s NOT so pleasant.
last year tomás was CONSTANTLY breaking into her house and specifically her room. one of the first instances was around ep 5 where she barely even knows this man. she’s in her room, a place that’s supposed to be private, and this guy she doesn’t even know just barges in. and i don’t remember that scene all that well, just that she was singing, looking in the mirror and was quite startled when she saw him (and then they started arguing). then one of the worst instances was episode NINE, where again, this man just walks in her house like he owns the place, goes into her room, and again i have to remind you she’s known this man for two weeks AT MOST, and she starts very reasonably yelling and telling him to GO and he says “don’t scream or your dad will hear!” and she says “i’ll scream because my dad will hear me!” so he proceeds to cover her mouth. so she can’t scream. (another instance worth mentioning is 1x40 i think where tomás comes in her room AGAIN but león comes as well so she has to hide tomás in her closet. and this might be one of the things that fueled the dream as well. fearing something like that would happen again but even WORSE where she looks extremely guilty and has no way to prove her innocence)
so before s2 has even started, she's had a lot of unpleasant experiences with having had her personal space invaded. and we can't go without mentioning her helicopter father who is also constantly invading her personal space and is constantly making decisions for her and reducing her autonomy. a big issue vilu struggled with in s1 and continues to struggle with in s2 is the lack of control she feels like she has over her life and the lack of autonomy she has. from not allowing her to go to school and forbiding her from doing something she loves to spying on her and getting involved in her personal life, germán has it all covered
and now in s2 she's constantly being stalked and harassed by diego. he bothers her at the youmix party, at the karaoke bar, at her SCHOOL, he goes to harass her at her HOUSE and even barges in once. and the whole time he's talking about how she likes him, how they're gonna be together, how he's her future boyfriend and she should stop resisiting. and the whole time the only thing she tells him is 'no', she tells him to leave her alone, to not bother her. even other people try to get it through his thick skull she doesn't want him, mainly león but also cami, fran and even marco. but he continues. and NONE of her efforts see any merit. she feels completely helpless. and not only does diego do all that, he also keeps sabotaging all her effots to get back together with león and constantly gets in the middle of their relationship to the point she's forced to constantly explain herself to león about how this guy keeps butting in and she has nothing to do with it. but a lot of times diego makes it look a certain way so león doesn't believe her (and we're not blaming león here. he's dealing with his own stuff and a lot of his reactions are understandable as well.) even though she's done nothing wrong
but now her and león are FINALLY back together and she's SO happy and everything is going SO well and— and diego comes and ruins it all by saing he's going to audition to join the studio. so now she has to contend with the fact she might have to see her stalker every single day.
so now that we've established the diego issue and vilu's struggle with her lack of autonomy and control over her life, let's get into her dream. which is a literal nightmare. and it starts with her peacefully lying in bed, writing in her diary, very clearly just her in her own personal space. and then diego starts barging into her room and she starts telling him to go, to leave her alone, that her dad might come, that she has a boyfriend, just anything to get him out. but instead of leaving he just sits on her bed. and then león comes in and she immediately starts worrying and explaing but león doesn't really hear her and starts singing and then so does diego. and the whole time she keeps telling them to leave, to stop but it's almost like neither of them actually hear her. and towards the end she kinda just like... gives up? just stops even trying to get them to stop or leave. and it's awful foreshadowing to later on in s2 where she gives up saying no to diego and agrees to date him. she's tired and has no more energy to keep fighting so she gives in.
anyway i think this dream nightmare just signifies her worst fears, her biggest struggles. in the whole sequence she's completely powerless. she has no choice or say in anything. whether she sat there silently or screamed the entire time makes no real difference. the outcome is completely the same.
honestly this kinda reminds me of a nightmare i used to have really often a few years ago. where i was in a car speeding down a hill and couldn't stop it so i had to sit there and basically wait for the inevitable. so i feel like this is a version of that, in a way. where vilu is forced to sit and watch and be a part of a burning car crash with no way to stop it.
i don't really know where else to take this but i feel like the main thing i was trying to say came across. and this in mind will definitely make dieletta getting together even harder to watch. it really just perpetuates this sense of doom. as if vilu saw this 'car crash' coming miles away but couldn't do anything about it in the end. but it will make the dieletta breakup even sweeter though. her finally breaking away from this curse, now in charge of her own destiny
