I know we're all aware of The State of the GL tags so I thought, what if in addition to the normal tags we add GL subfandom specific character tags that other fans wouldn't know to use. Tags where we only put posts that actually feature the characters tag.

I propose just putting #2814 in front of the regular tag because that's something we will all remember easily.

So for example a post would look like this:

🟢 my-user-name

DC. DC I need to see Jess and Jo bond about fannish interests. DC!!!!!

#green lantern #2814 green lantern #jo mullein #2814 jo mullein #jessica cruz #2814 jessica cruz

Important to note that like in my example, we shouldn't abandon the normal tags so actual new fans can find us. But I think we all know that The Mistaggers have never actually scrolled through the Green Lantern tag so I'm hopeful it'd work. Putting the modifier in front means they won't pop up when the mistaggers are typing in the # either.

Not sure if it would work, but I don't think it'd hurt to try, right? What do you and everyone else think about this?

Is this hypothetical tag supposed to be like a code that's just meant to signal "written by an actual Green Lantern fan"? Or is it supposed to be a replacement tag for following purposes, even though we'd still be using the regular tags when posting?

Either way I'm not against trying this out, though I'd suggest using emerald knights instead of 2814 since that's more general to all Green Lanterns than a specific sector number is.

#I'm curious as to how many of the actual GL tags are abused by batspam #because those almost always target hal or guy or occasionally kyle and use the green lantern tag as a general catch all for them #john and alan usually don't get the same treatment and the bats don't know or care about the newbies or any of the nonhuman Corps members #green lantern #2814 #emerald knights
