Brian Wainwright, Brian Drake & Jeff Morvil at The Ramp House in NC in ‘93. “As you know by now, the park is closed. Jim Reis, the owner, said that the fact that it was an ‘old school’ park in a ‘new school’ era was why there weren’t enough people showing up. The Ramp House, originally opened in January ’90, lived a heavily sessioned life. After a few short runs, closings & various owners, Jim took over in May of ’92. He built & ran the park until it closed in Sept ‘93. Heaps of psycho sessions went down here with guys like Alva, Hosoi, Groholski, Murphy, the Wainwrights… (and the list goes on). A new park opening in Hampstead @theskatebarn scarfed up the 6 1/2 foot mini, the small bowl, the 3 foot mini & the street stuff. They plan on connecting the street stuff to the small bowl & finishing the corners off. The park should be sick. As far as the big bowl & Jim, the real soul of the Ramp House, the bowl is still homeless & Jim is headed for, as he calls it, “Derelectism & Alcoholism!” So we sadly say ‘later’ to The Ramp House.” Pictured above & right, Brian Wainwright & Brian Drake consistently blew minds all over the park.
