[Flowers] came from, it’s a pretty good story actually, a tweet. […] I posted something and one of the fans had written underneath it ‘Your eyes could grow flowers’. […] Amy Allen was like “That is sick!”. We were just looking at stuff like “What are we gonna write about?”. Then saw that and I was like “This is genius”. […] The song ended up being like ‘you don’t know how amazing you are, you don’t know the things, the small things you do affect people in a big way, in a good way. And you’re that powerful your eyes could grow flowers’. And I just thought we all kinda feel that way about someone, you know it’s not like you’re going out of your way to do something super special, you’re just being yourself, and it’s hugely impactful. So I just thought it was a really cool concept, straight from a fan. I need to find that person cause I need to give them their writing credit. […] I think the fans will like that one.

Not super super super personal, I just, I love the idea of ‘if I don’t see you, I’ll die, but if I do, I’ll also die. It will kill me to see you, and it will kill me if I don’t see you’. […] And then I was like picturing where I used to live, and like thinking about that drive, you know to where she lives, or you know, if we’re trying to avoid each other or whatever. Like this didn’t particularly happen to me, but yeah I just thought it was a very common thing.
