26th January Guest - The Blue Room
As if placed with hands of silk, dainty, delicate, deadly, she lay,
Telling me ‘never be a rock’,
To see someone of such a lifetime, so utterly
Defeated was to witness the crumbling of an Empire,
Held in much esteem, above the heads of all men.
A woman of concrete, was now disintegrating amongst the silken sheets.
Arms weak with remembrance, eyes pained with loss and heart forcing a beat.
Her mind racing into blandness, ‘I was once loved’,
The room is left by those of aid, the two which are fixed scramble to the light, catching the beauty, as the blinding white drowns in the rich red.
‘Surviving doesn’t need to be this hard’
Surrounded by greatness is a daunting circumstance,
Leaving a room knowing less than you did when you entered.
