         words are true and indicate a cause for celebration, but tones and surrounding air temporarily home a bitterness that matches the taste of the liqueur which lingers on tongues with each swig. a man usually appearing so chipper can only abandon that extra spring in his step when it’s acknowledged that not everyone could express the same gratitude for living    —   for the opportunity to experience another day, week, month, year of life on this planet. many of the people who deserved that chance the most were stripped of it.
