Iām very lucky to have been close enough where he didnāt look like a tic-tac man (PG, Gilmour), & to have fixated on his face- god heās so beautiful, & with guitar in hand & his face tilted up to release the lyrics of John Barleycorn & Fantasy, man, that was so dream-like, & I did get Really sentimental. My guy! ya know!, 1/3rd of a top favorite band, my for sure favorite musician (sorry, Bowie). He means so much to me whether that be a girlish crush, or of musicality. Traffic is so important & prominent in my life & Steve Winwood, solo or band member, like everything heās done manages to reach & appeal to me from: spencer davis blues, bewitching psychedelia & folk, rock, jazz, funk, r&b, ā80s & ā90s synth pop.. but because he has done so much of so many types of music, the set-list was limited to the more popular songs we all know & love (but ohmygod Domingo Morning, I f*cking love you so much for that, Win).. It was very strange how human it all was, like how could someone so beautiful, so beyond abilities & talent be so human? Somehow star power evades him though he is among men like Hendrix & Clapton. & to me, because Iām a chick, even better since not only is he this impressive musician, but heās just so beautiful & attractive, & really a good guy. But again, the environment was just so strange; most of the time it wasnāt like I was seeing a classic rock legend or ā80s pop star, or even the pretty guy I adore, it was just really great music being had. But for Dear Mr. Fantasy, John Barleycorn, Had To Cry Today, Canāt Find My Way Home & yeah, yeah (butohmygod!!!) Domingo Morning, I was so captivated & moved by him, as if I was watching 1972 Steve Winwood, none of his vocal ability or beauty has faded (well, genetics are genetics & he was blessed) & hearing his organ! oh my god! A beautiful sound coming from a beautiful man who was apart of a beautiful band...it was all too!..Ā Gosh! Love you, Winwood- come back so soon.
He did this gorgeous & totally tops & spooky intro to Higher Love! Iām not joking! & the lights went this dark, mauve color that seeped into the stage mist, creating this ominous look & with his Dracula-esque organ (Iām telling you, Iām not kidding about this), it was such a vibe very in heart of his psychedelic days, but also very of my spirit. Hm, realizing he did Pearly Queen over Glad, bummer, but I got my moments of the styles I love of his (except not once did ya hear his iconic narrow-pulse squarewaveĀ ā80s synth sound. Yeah! I know what you did, Stevie! & that f*cking sound is so attached to you whether you like it now or not, babe!). He is a lot more organic & traditional now. His percussionists are excellent. I met his guitarist which he does Them Changes really well, but he was a bit uncool. His flute & sax guy, who also went on organ- like it sucked, I really was so! into what he was doing, but ya know, Winwood- Iām not looking away or separating my attention from my guy ya know... i only caught him biting over his lip once.....
Steve Winwood is so sweet & humble. He kicks about behind his organ with a lot of joy & he can fill the air with these heavy, vibrato or twirled chords from his organ. Absolutely beautiful and spellbinding; I was totally entranced & amazed like this was f*cking huge! for me. Not only is he a musician crush because, lets face it, heās been: attractive, incredibly talented & dedicated to his creativity & musicianship since the mid ā60s, but I also really admire him as much as I adore him. I am so taken by his virtuosity & voice, & when it comes to organ & keyboards- man, the world. I fixed my eyes on him & could not stop repeating to myselfĀ āhe is so beautifulā. He is.Ā He hiccupped a word in Had To Cry, but being itās Steve_Winwood, like it sounded Really good & gave a new shape and color to the line. Like I love when he rearranges the notes of a vocal melody & man, did this āscrew upā sound beautiful. Somehow a very human & underwhelming environment & energy, hearing his voice felt natural- it was him & it wasnāt novel or cute to me. I was strangely disconnected from antics I clearly & often display alone, I donāt know maybe because I was in public... Did fawn over him pushing his glasses up lmao, but *oh! ! How moved! & excited! I was when he played something Iāve never heard before! Like that was it, that was the top experience. It was Domingo Morning. Totally new to me & the vocal arrangement absolutely got me. I had to retract from smiling like a goon, but the muscles of my stomach & neck tightened, my chest compressed & my heart filled with love. I was just so moved. Itās really pretty & a unique vocal arrangement that sounds so good! with the music. The lights were red & the song had a Spanish feel. After the song he mentioned the year for that song* & led it to going throughĀ ādecadesā (imagine his voice saying that). I guess I did fawn over how he pronouncedĀ ādecadesā &Ā āeraā... god it was f*cking Winwood! I canāt believe it! my goodness.
