During late 2011 Badminton Victoria set a challenge for its members, to create a new corporate image for Badminton Victoria. After many nominations and proposals from prospective designers, the Badminton Victoria board selected the design from "Southern Land Badminton Club" as the winning design.

The logo created by Southern Land was fresh and inviting, while clearly fitting the criteria that was set by the Badminton Victoria board. Southern Land's idea behind the logo was:

"The concept behind this logo design is simplicity. The main reason for choosing simplicity is to have your logo stand out in your industry and on your website."

Many of the logo's that Badminton Victoria compete with are bright, bold and full of colour, for this reason a simple logo was selected to stand out from the competition.

The rationale of the Badminton Victoria logo was:

"1. The shuttle in the centre represents the symbol of the sport, Badminton.

2. The shuttle also appears in a 'V' shape stands for Victoria

3. The curve outside the shuttle represents two things; the Badminton racket and the world - an international sport

4. The shade of blue chosen is Badminton Victoria's current corporate colour ( The colour also represents Victoria's state colour of Navy Blue)

Badminton Victoria would like to congratulate Southern Land Badminton for their wonderful logo and the countless hours spent in its design and creation!

Pat Daw has been inducted as a Badminton Victoria Life Member at the 2011 AGM, held at the State Netball Hockey Centre. This is recognition of the many years of hard work and dedication to the sport of Badminton in Victoria.

Badminton Victoria would like once again congratulate Pat on this achievement!

For those who dont know Pat, here is a bit about her:

"Pat joined the committee of Western Suburbs Badminton Association, chairing her first meeting as President in 1989 and still holds this position.

On numerous occasions, between managers, Pat took over the day to day running of the Altona Badminton Centre and spent many hours organising the staff and overseeing the administration of the Stadium.

Pat has been involved in the organisation of many WSBA tournaments and the  2006 and 2008 Under 15 national carnivals held at Altona.  She has also been the Event Director for an Under 19 Australian Carnival and Under 17 Australasian Badminton Carnival hosted by Badminton Victoria.

Pat was a member of Victorian Badminton Association Council in the 1960’s, a member of the Badminton Victoria Review Committee in 1999 and has worked, as a volunteer at Badminton Australia collating tournament results.

Pat has the WSBA delegate to the Victorian Junior Badminton committee and has recently taken the position of secretary of the Victorian Junior Badminton committee.

Pat has been most proactive in setting up all the tournament and pennant competitions on the BA approved tournament software and willingly shares her knowledge with others.

Pat updates and maintains the WSBA website which has an average of 3000 – 4000 readers accessing it each month. Pat also maintains the VJB website.

Pat has assisted Badminton Victoria with tournaments, school events and special events such as hosting the Singapore Junior Badminton trip to Melbourne in 2009.

Pat was very supportive and proactive in the set up and running of the Western Suburbs Badminton Association’s junior development squad in 2002.  Since that time the association has conducted clinics in many of our local schools and the number of children passing through clinics, casual coaching, squads and our junior pennant would number in the thousands.

Pat has just commenced her 22nd year as president of Western Suburbs Badminton Association, by far and away the longest serving president in its seventy-seven year existence.

Pat became interested in badminton when she went to pennant competition matches at St Johns Footscray with her parents Ray & Mavis Weisheit and played for about forty years.  Pat obviously has badminton in her blood.  Her father, Ray is also a WSBA life member (1952) and a Badminton Victoria life member (1954).
