I want to be healthy, not be obsessed with being healthy
Why do it? You know where in one month you're beating yourself up because you ate an extra portion of fruit salad, and you didn't go to Bikram even though you've a stinking cold, and you shouldn't have had that small glass of wine?... and then the next month you're trying to remember why you ever cared about going for a run, after you've drunk the best part bottle of wine a night, and eaten mac n cheese for 2 weeks solid? That's what I want to avoid.... that first part is an obsession with the idea of it, rather than just getting on and doing it, and that second part is what happens (to me!) when I relax the rules.
What are the rules? In the next 365 days I need to exercise on 200 of them. The following things count as exercise:-
20mins+ cardio (running/walking uphill/swimming/etc)
30mins+ yoga/dancing
1hr+ walking (proper walking, not shopping!)
There's no rules about food or drink, but since I do want to get toned, and get healthier I am going to try and eat well, because frankly exercising after drinking is horrible.
It's an experiment, but I figure that if you exercise over half the days in the year then you're going to get fitter and improve how you look.... but it allows for that piece of chocolate cake without deciding to screw the whole diet. 1 night out doesn't break the principle, nor does one day on the sofa.
Why blog it? Because I'm weak, but I care about what other people think! I know writing it down will make me more likely to actually do it. I'm setting up a business, and I know on bad work days it will make me less likely to use that as an excuse, and more likely to go to yoga!
It will also make me keep a track against target, so I know if I'm falling behind or ahead. I want to have a smidge of that obsession you get from doing a health kick, but make it a long term commitment.
All sounds great in principle right? we'll see....
