Lagavulin 12 Years Old, 2008 Release, Scotland
Bottling Note
Third of a very limited series of special releases from the essential Islay distillery. Delightfully subtle differences compared to previous 12 year old releases. This is the 2008 edition, a cask strength whisky matured in refill bourbon casks.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
The nose is fresh and crisp and excellent clarity. Notes of oily phenols and a rich coastal character. Hints of smoke and wood creep in with peat and a touch iodine. The palate is smoky and nutty with peppery spice and a touch of sweetness. The finish is long and tarry and quite acrid with notes of smoky oak.
