On August 6, 1993, Gwynn notches his 2000th hit in the form of a single off of Colorado Rockies pitcher  Bruce Ruffin at Jack Murphy Stadium.Â
On August 6, 1999, Gwynn notches his 3000th hit also in the form of a single off of Montreal Expos pitcher Dan Smith at Stade Olympique de Montréal
Gwynn would finish with 3,141 hits in his 20-years with the San Diego Padres. He would be inducted to the Hall of Fame in 2007.Â
