persephone was in diagon ally, at the leaky cauldron. she was performing, singing her heart out to bring a warm, yet festive mood to the pub. this is honestly what she loved to do, make sure people thought of music, love, joy and forgot the terrors of war.
that is when it happened, a man running into the pub, yelling something about an attack. when questioned, he wasn’t sure how many people had perished or what had actually happened. all he knew was that the dark mark was in the sky and everyone knew what that meant. this wasn’t an accident.
in the chaos that erupted, persephone made her way off the stage and went out through the back door. she tried not to think about how dangerous it was on the streets this late as a squib. all she had was a knife strapped to her thigh and her charming personally. that was it. that was all the protection she had and in order to function, she had to ignore that. she needed to make her way to an order member - any member - and figure out how she could help. she already felt bad enough that she hadn’t known about this attack. it was her job after all, to know.
she wasn’t an order member, she’d never asked to formerly join and she wasn’t sure she’d be allowed to, but she believed in what they stood for and they seemed like the best chance to get her to the equality between wizards and squibs after the war. whether or not that happened, that was still a big question mark. she’d never brought it up.
she wasn’t useful to them in the way other members were. she had no magic, she stood little to no chance against powerful death eaters but she was a well known singer with mysterious origins and a talent for occlumency - a handy trick she’d learned from sirius. ( she’d always thought you had to be a wizard, but that was untrue. ) she also had quite loose morals, which meant she was perfect entertainment for death eaters, which gave her access to a lot of information. she had failed tonight, she thought and people lost their lives. another few people she could put on her ‘should have saved’ list.
she was quickly walking down a narrow street close to diagon alley, desperately hoping to run into an order member or someone she knew to be an ally when she ran into someone, their shoulders bumping, causing her to hit the wall next to her with her bare arm. “Aw!” She exclaimed, as she frowned at whoever had run into her.
