Czas trwania akcji: do 2 października. Limit słów: 25 -- “dokładnie tyle wynosił limit słów w korespondencji wysyłanej pocztą polową w czasie Powstania Warszawskiego”.
(Spot sprzed dwóch lat; muzyka pożyczona z serialu “Czas Honoru”)
A few years ago, it turned out that besides many photos, there are original video tapes filmed during the Warsaw Uprising. The Warsaw Uprising Museum managed to colorise the film frames and lip-read what people were saying. That’s how this non-fiction film was made.
I remember when I first saw some colorised photos; it all became more real, the barrier made by black-and-white gone. “Warsaw Uprisng” adds another layer; we see and hear.

76th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.
There is a city.
Today is the 76th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, an operation by Polish underground resistance with aim to liberate the pre-war capital from German occupation.
No more than 49,000 underequipped, with little outside support, fought for 63 days, from August 1st to October 2nd, 1944, initially even successful and creating a small piece of the “free Poland”, ultimately failing. The civilians were expelled, the city was swept from the Earth.
That’s why every year, on August 1, we all stop for a minute at 5 p.m. In Warsaw and many other Polish cities, sirens remind us that everything started on the “W-hour” (from wybuch, ‘explosion’). It was a long time ago, but they all fought for us; in turn, we remember.
