i have some thoughts on 1883 season finale.
1. we know that Elsa said her heaven is filled with things she loves. So I feel like thinking Sam is dead is sort of out of question because then Lightening would also have to be dead. I think it’s just what her heaven looks like and it’s not really those individuals which then means that she could have her “parents” there too.
2. She told Shea that she’d meet him on the beach if she didn’t make it and the humming bird showed up before he died. Some of her last words were that her first memory was thinking that birds were smart. So I think that maybe that was her visiting him like she said she would.

The new series 1883 is a prequel to the hit Yellowstone, showing how the great-grandparents of the latter’s Dutton family came to settle in Montana and establish their ranch. Since the story takes place in the 19th century, the characters have to suffer through the hardships of life on the plains without the comforts or conveniences of modern technology. And the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, says that having the show filmed on location adds an extra layer of authenticity in exposing the hardships the characters endured, especially when it comes to the weather.
