I’ve been getting a lot of comments and insults just because I’m a fan of gothic rock or alternative music. What’s the big deal? I don’t care for artists like Beyoncé, Lady GaGa, Rihanna, or Taylor Swift. I just find their songs horrendously boring and too similar to each other. I’m not saying they don’t have talent, mind you that they have great talent. But I just don’t find girls who wear G-Strings and white-to-almost-transparent body suits and sing a lot (not all, some songs are different) about sex and partying all the time attractive or interesting, I just find them a bad influence. I tell these people why girls, such as Amy Lee of Evanescence (my favorite band of all time), are my role models. They express themselves in a way that doesn’t have to be sexual or too revealing. Amy Lee, for example, expresses herself and shows her body off too, but she doesn’t do that by showing her breasts and wearing a thong in her music videos. I simply adore her style and I completely agree with her that girls don’t need to show off their beauty through sexual clothing or actions. Amy is beautiful just the way she is, and look at how beautiful she is by being herself, and not what the media thinks is the definition of true beauty.
