Q: Are you a bit disappointed? You had no battery at the end of your lap, were you amazing in your performance, your car was amazing...

"Well I'm not disappointed I mean I was 1 tenth (0.064) behind him..."

Q: No I mean disappointed because I know you felt close to pole position...

"I’m really happy honestly, I need to review the data because there’s always something you can gain here and there but as a team, first we have to thank all the team back at the factory for bringing these upgrades because its truly amazing to see how much they are innovating and how much we are evolving as a team and this makes a huge difference when we go on track. I felt it."

"Obviously the Mercedes is super strong so beating them is not simple at all. Today we beat one of them and tomorrow we have to beat the other. It’s a tall order because they’ve won every race this year but not impossible. I think we will need an absolutely perfect performance from all of us tomorrow, the strategy, my driving, the start, the balance, the degradation, the tyre management, but yeah we’ve got to try and see if i can pull something special."

Q: You and the team made a step forward in performance of the car, do you think this car will win this race or even other races?

"This car will definitely win races I’m sure of it, for the development project we are taking, the direction that we are taking the synergy that we have and how hard we are working I’m sure at some point we will be battling for wins. I hope it’s tomorrow cause we were close. I think the Mercedes in general is quicker everywhere because they have something more in the race but I hope tomorrow in the race I can do something extra to help the team achieve a result."

Oh, it's huge. Absolutely. It's so huge. Like, I've even shocked myself. Even Ange was, she was like, I'm so surprised. And I've been with Ange for years and she's, it's impossible to surprise her now because we've been together for so long."

"But P1, obviously I missed P1. P2, I was miles away a second, over a second. I thought, OK, I'll be OK for P3. P3, I'm still like half a second away. And I'm like, whoa. I was very, very anxious going into the qualifying session."

"And I was like, I've got to figure out how to close that gap. I can see it on the data, but having the confidence in the car to do what you need to, to close the gap but then be ahead is a real challenge."
