Two self-centered New Yorkers created their own 12-step program to become kinder, more empathetic people. As a resolution, they practiced this for 12 months. By Jessica Walsh & Timothy Goodman, creators of 40 Days of Dating.
I’ve been in a highly experimental place in my life -- and I couldn’t think of a better reason to try something new, especially if it means you’d exhibit more #kindness. ❤️
Getting away with shit with @timothygoodman, whose work I really admire: #12kindsofkindness #40daysofdating #memoriesofagirlineverknew (at OFFF, let's feed the future)
so a short recap of the morning :: we show up to sagmeister & walsh promptly at 5am to find designers jessica walsh and timothy goodman proposing the final step to the 12 kinds of kindness project they have been collaborating on (ala bagels and fruit). goodman states something along the lines of... if you’re a republican you might want to leave...because we’re going to build a wall. in front of trump tower. honestly this was the coolest thing to experience and participate in. standing in front of this building, holding a sign in the name of equality and kindness was such an honor and it was so encouraging to see design used in such a huge way. in the face of discrimination and hate, take a stand for what you believe in. take a stand for those in your life that face prejudice based on religion, sex, race, etc. this so so very inspirational and im really thankful to have been a part of it.

This morning I blindly volunteered for #12kindsofkindness. Little did I know the chord this action would strike with my own history and our current political discourse. My family and I were Mexican undocumented immigrants for 12 years in the US, before we got lucky and were able to gain citizenship. This morning afforded me the opportunity to stand up against hatred, bigotry, racism and xenophobia with others in #NYC at #TrumpTower. I didn't realize how emotional it was going to be for me until I stood there holding a sign, remembering those 12 years, and where I am today because of my parents' courage and sacrifice to give my family a better life. So thank you @JessicaWalsh & @TimothyGoodman and all the other volunteers for this brave action. And thank you to my parents for risking everything to allow us to be where we are today. #StopHateDumpTrump "BUILD KINDNESS NOT WALLS. This morning we, along with 100 amazing and wonderful volunteers, built a kindness "wall" in front of Trump Tower in NYC for our last step of 12 Kinds of Kindness. http://12kindsofkindness.com/the-steps/dive-deep/story/ Excluding people breeds discrimination, hate and sometimes terrorism. History tells us that building walls, both physically and metaphorically, will only cause more problems. We simply cannot shut out people based on religion, ethnicity, race, gender or sex. Instead of building walls, let’s build more kindness and love. Let’s build more understanding and more acceptance in our country. Kindness is an innate quality that we all have as human beings. We need a leader who will be an example of this. Let’s stand up to this intolerance. Let’s not let walls tear us down. A peaceful protest that turned out to be an inspiring experience. We will be doing more of these soon, even bigger and better. #12kindsofkindness #buildkindnessnotwalls - if you want to participate in future events email [email protected] Photos by Ramon Trotman, Jason Bergman and Daniel Forero"
@timothygoodman and @jessicavwalsh are back at it again! I love following the work they do! #checkitoutnow ・・・ Step 1 of our new blog, #12kindsofkindness is now live! @jessicavwalsh and I are two self-centered New Yorkers, often focused on what’s ahead instead of what’s around us, so we created a series of 12 steps as a way to become kinder, more empathetic people. As a resolution, we practiced and documented this for 12 months. We're going to roll it out on the blog every day for the next month. Check out Step 1 today at 12kindsofkindness.com (link in the profile!) Trailer video by @jsnbrgmn. Thanks to everyone who made step 1 videos possible! @basberkhout & @natalieholt323 & @jsnbrgmn
