My 1000th post. I started buying Star Wars figures in 2012, almost 30 years after I sold my original Kenner figure collection. At the beginning I just wanted to have a handful of figures, namely C-3PO, R2-D2, Boba Fett, and a Sandtroooper. Instead if buying back the Kenner figures I wanted to try something new and find out about the modern figures as I was particularly fond of their articulation they gained over the last decades. With each figure I got more curious about the development of Star Wars action figures in the past 30 years, which I completely ignored until then. I began buying the modern version for every original Kenner figure that ever existed. While doing so I had to find out that 1. it was often quite hard to identify the most modern and best articulated version of a particular original Kenner figure (Rebel Commander?), 2. many figures weren’t easily available (IG-88!), and 3. few figures weren’t updated in decades (Imperial Dignitary). I decided to log my journey on tumblr, where I met my action figure buddies, @skeletonastronaut and @espidermeng . Star Wars Rebels came up and I included it into my collection focus. TFA came out and I started buying too many figures. Rogue One added even more. In the meantime Hasbro also switched to the 6“ figures which I never really fully embraced. Eventually last year I stopped collecting and posting for a while and then decided to sell my 6“ figures and focus only on 3.75“ again. With the release of TLJ and the disappointment that came along with it, I decided to focus back on Original Trilogy figures, with the exception of figures from outside OT, that I really like. So this picture pretty much sums the journey up, as it displays my way back to the 3.75“ OT roots while the 6“ figures still cast their ominous shadows. By the way, I never completed my original goal of getting back all original 93 Kenner figures as modern versions (too many Ewoks!).
