#TheVaginaMonologues was first produced in 1996. I saw a date of #112296 but wasn't 100% sure that was the exact first date of production. It was originally a play written by #EveEnsler that dealt with the feminine experience regarding things like sex, love, rape, menstruation, female genital mutilation, masturbation, birth, orgasm, etc. Over the years, the play has been criticized for being "anti-male" and "anti-heterosexual". In spite of those accusations, it has gone on to raise millions of dollars for women's anti-violence groups, become a television show on HBO and continues to showcase relevant/current real-life issues among women/girls.
