Also, like, a cat, “his hair bristles with epic rage,” a not quite literal but absolutely delightful translation of “ses cheveux pleins de colère sont épiques."

Also I love the image of Parisians becoming Gods when necessary. And he honestly kind of follows through with this, when we meet his later Embodiments of Paris in people like Bahorel and Gavroche.

But this chapter is mostly just an excuse for Hugo to rant in the notes about a thing he read that makes him mad.
