Dusk takes in a deep breath, but by now the anxieties of both the couple and the room have all but faded.
“And now you shall say your vows.”
Easton takes out a ring, a beautiful, ornate, silvery object, inlaid with a pink-white jewel. Northa takes out a similar ring with a blue jewel. Are they going to say vows at the same time-Oh yes they are.
“With this ring, I thee wed, and I do promise to love, honor, and cherish you, in good times and bad, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part.”
They put the rings on each others’ fingers at the same time.
“Easton, Northa, having proclaimed your love for and complete commitment to one another in sight of these witnesses, the goddesses, the Mods, and whatever powers lay beyond them, by the power vested in me by my own Mod and the code of my being, I pronounce you husband and wife.”
“You may now kiss the bride!”
And kiss they do, as many have before an altar before them, before pulling back, still in one another’s arms, tears streaming down their smiling faces. For a moment, there is happiness, for a moment, all that exists is this room, is the heart in your chest, is the stars in the sky, is the ones that you love.
“Gathered guests, it is my eternal pleasure to present to you Mr. And Mrs. West, Lord and Lady of Compass!”
