With all this talk of a ball, the author figured she had nothing better to do than attend. Or at least, nothing else had come up yet. Besides, to socialize could be fun, if nor at least useful in gathering information about this place. And it seemed the whole city was encouraging such festivities, since all the dress shops advertised varying sales.
Hence why she bothered to spend a few spare hours sifting through the racks of dresses and other fancy clothing. Given her short size, there wasn’t much to choose from for her specifically; but, she didn’t expect to find anything to buy. She was having more fun watching other people shop.
Especially when a young boy caught her attention -- blonde and a flashy dresser. He didn’t look too strange in a shop like this, though she didn’t think he was shopping for himself... Maybe, a date? Did kids his age date already?
She kept a steady eye on him, hoping for something interesting, lest she move onto someone else to stare at.
