Well, I won't wrap this up before my Christmas break, so the details will continue after the first of the year.

But just to document the details of BJU's main campus, here's BJU's property tax bill over the years:

The steep increase from 2000 to 2002 is curious. My guess is that's when Greenville's development was expanding.

The steep decrease between 2017 and 2018 has a predictable explanation by now: SACS accreditation.

And for the record, that's when BJU re-assessed its acreage too:

I don't know where to look, to be honest, as I see the tax data from BJU's property.

For instance, from 1995 through 2018, BJU's main campus was zoned as "1180 (Residential Vacant)." In 2018 it was changed to "850 (Schools)."

Now for comparison, both Furman University and North Greenville University are currently and have always been classified as "1180 (Residential Vacant)." So that's Greenville County's standard for colleges.

So when 29614 ownership transferred hands from "Bob Jones University" to "BJU, Inc.", the zoning changed.

Bob Jones Elementary School now governed the rest of the acreage. It is now classified as "850 (Schools)."
