this is what i do when i want to write but don't have the inspiration i need. i love personality types so when i create a character and hash out some key details on them, naturally i label them with a personality type. it's a fun template i use that helps mold them and it's cool to go read about the quirks of different personality types. i never use it as a set of rules but more as ways to expand them into 3D living and breathing beings. 

i have a lot of characters now, so of course personality types are replicated and recently i started thinking about my friends and dividing the characters into categories based on their personality types no matter what project they're in. from the categories ive been picking out their similar traits to see just how much of their personality type is reflected in their actions.

the istj

Serious and quiet, interested in security and peaceful living. Extremely thorough, responsible, and dependable. Well-developed powers of concentration. Usually interested in supporting and promoting traditions and establishments. Well-organized and hard working, they work steadily towards identified goals. They can usually accomplish any task once they have set their mind to it.

my friend allyce is the only comparison i have to these characters but she fits the mold quite well. she's serious and very interested in security and peaceful living. she's REALLY responsible and dependable. she loves her traditions too and is hard-working. 

from that type's category i have:

reese wiley, whose personality i just explained. but she fits this mold moderately well. she's got several of the makings. she's not sociable and is really serious. in the book, she is almost strictly a loner who is just working toward a normal and stable life. when injustice comes her way, she's confused by it because it's acting under the tradition of law and through the establishment. so at first she tries to fight it through tradition and when that fails she's forced out of her peaceful living. she's very logical and only joins the movement to rid the country of the new injustice because it is a goal that could result in a normal and peaceful life in the end. 

ethan bowen, he's from the same tale as reese. while i wont go into him too deeply because his tale unfolds in the story, i'll say he's almost textbook istj now that i look at it closer. he's radically traditional unless those rules around him threaten his peace and structure. he's mad serious and over-the-top responsible and thorough. even in the name of making a decision that could hurt someone he trusts and loves, if its in the name of the current law, he would hurt that person. however, when those laws threaten the structure of a well-working and orderly society, or upon finding out ones true colours, he'll set his sights on making it right to return the system back to well-functioning order, and like it says, he'll accomplish it.

Hayden Garrett, he appears in the story of a high school band on their first summer tour. he's the bass player and the level-head, the glue that holds the band together. while he is a musician with dreams, his ultimate goal is financial security and to start a family. he's responsible and hard-working. he's also very quiet and serious. he knows how things should be and strives to keep order, though from behind the scenes as he also does not want to start fights and cause DISORDER in his quest for serenity. he's the dad of the band and seems to be the one to turn to in order to make big decisions. his feet are on the ground.

Brooklyn Gage, her story isn't developed well enough for her story and role to be explained. basically she's the mother to her younger sister with a rigidly serious and responsible side. she's very interested in having a normal life and school is her top priority. she doesn't enjoy being around people and is really quiet. she hates personal relationships and opts to sleep around, no strings attached, rather than commit.
