So. Here I am on the final night in NZ, writing a post I’ve been meaning to write for a couple of days now.

It’s kinda hard to believe that 12 weeks ago I was just your average (read: awesome) chick working nights at a supermarket. And that 6 weeks ago I was offered a job after a single phone interview. And now, I’m still that average (read: same as above) chick, but I have an amazing opportunity that I may never get again… Or at least for a while anyway.

I’m headed to America! I know, super exciting stuff. And, as sappy as it sounds, I’m sitting here, typing away, and trying not to cry. I’m really going to miss everyone. I’ve always been a believer though, in the fact that home isn’t just a place. It’s whatever you make it. And I’ve made my home in my family, my friends, and my cat. And my sisters cat. So while I’ll miss everyone back home, I’m also going to expand my home.

It’s a little scary, because this is the first time I’ll have left home without a ‘safety net’, as it were. But it’s also really exciting, because I’ll have to rely on myself and be more independent then I ever have… Whilst still remembering that it’s ok to ask for help, and to accept help that’s offered.

I think that’s all for now. My plan is to update this at least weekly, but we’ll see how that goes...
