1991-04-27; 003 Bw Saalfeld. In 1991, I went for my first Plandampf to Saalfeld. Completely new to this concept and Eastern Germany. I had participated in several organized rail trips in the Netherlands and Western Germany, but now my first multi-day trip. And now even to our former enemy; East Germany. In 1988 a had read in the Dutch magazine Rail Kroniek that steam was still used, but that the end was near. And now for real. And what a start it was. Plandampf with 01 2137, 01 1531, 03 1010, 18 201, 95 1027, 41 1231 and of course a lot of diesel locomotives. At that time they were hardly noticed and I just made pictures when the came by, but now I am very pleased I made these pictures.
