The 5 years Regan took away from his main job and life made him realize he missed the quiet and domestic part of his old life. He did not miss the poverty part or the days of starvation, but he did miss taking things slow instead of being constantly pushing himself to do work. He considers these 5 years the best of his entire life.
Unfortunately, those 5 years were the start of Wilhelm beginning to resent him.

I'm Wilhelm posting rn because it's been such a long while OH MY GOD
Wilhelm, head CEO and main founder of the D.D.T.C. He's a very playful but also emotional type of person. He used to be very emotionally attached to Regan, only because those two were alone in the universes for a period of time before starting the organization.
Unlike Regan who managed to make his little circle of friend, Wilhelm is pretty much by himself with Regan as his very close friend. There's J.D., but Wilhelm only sees him as a colleague and his extra pair of eyes as oppose to an actual friend.
With the ransoms Wilhelm orders, he makes extra sure that the money goes towards each member's paycheck and that not one has been pocket. Honestly, he goes in the Treasury Department and physically inspects on all the paychecks before they are sent out.
When Regan once ranted about the new members application, Wilhelm was the one who "encouraged" him to reconsider the rejection on Ha-Joon's application. Encourage in quotes since he practically forced him to reconsider ONLY if Regan met up with Ha-Joon to revaluate his choices. They were likely speaking about this over a dinner night, somewhere in a modern timeline at a high end restaurant as per Wilhelm's preference. Wilhelm was amused by Regan's brief description of and interaction with her, making him want such a person to join their organization since he saw potential in Ha-Joon.

I dunno what is Regan's relationship with Wilhelm anymore. Is it romantic? Platonic? Awful? Genuine? I have zero clue!
The only thing clear to me is that their friendship in the beginning was genuine. Down the line, ehhhh I can't tell if it changed. Sometimes it feels Regan does like Wilhelm in the romantic sense, but sometimes I think he just likes him.
Then again, an immortal life (and veryyy long friendship) cannot be summed up in one word.
