As someone who hadn’t read the book and only saw the movie, I really did enjoy it. It had some very tender moments between Lydia and Jean; we got to watch Jean slowly open herself up to loving not only Lydia and Charlie but herself; and we got that big Fuck Societal Expectations thing at the train station (damn, Jean!)

But now that I know that the book had a happy ending that was actually swapped out for the movie ending we got?! Which makes no sense??? The director can suck my dick.
