aaaaaaaah a prideship au where you’re born with your soulmate’s name on your wrist, but Kaiba’s has always been blank due to Atem’s name being lost, and Atem can’t even see if he has a name on his wrist because he’s just a spirit.

then Atem goes on to the afterlife, and to his surprise his wrist is blank (unbeknownst to him- because his soulmate is in another dimension), and his heart aches over it but he tries to put it out of his mind. the one he wanted wouldn’t have been there anyway.....

cue dsod, and Kaiba doesn’t have a name on his wrist either for the same reason, but he doesn’t need it to chase after Atem all the way to Aaru. because Atem is the destiny he chooses.

they meet in the throne room, reunite, and don’t even notice the appearance of each other’s names on their skin.
