Part of the experience of reading House of Leaves is that by reaching one point onwards you're already starting to identify when someone's making a reference to the book, and sometimes it is about details or events you've yet to encounter yourself but you know this has to be a reference, it most definitely is, and you proceed to stand there stunlocked for a minute or two trying to parse if that shit's entirely made up or precisely accurate when it very much could be just satire or hyperbole but you have no way to know
#I've been fighting with the idea of the minotaur for weeks. What the fuck do you mean there's an actual minotaur#there can't be an actual minotaur...#..................right...???#it..#surely it's just a metaphor#when Zampanò brings up the minotaur it was merely a analogical resource regarding the labyrinth#but then....why is it crossed out......... there's no minotaur#....right?#shutup caguay#there's this small embedded closet at the entrace of my bedroom. It has no door. It stands directly opposite to my bed#and a fair distance away and kind of tucked halfway behind a wall#enough to be pitch black when I turn the lights off#it never really bothered me until I came back from my trip three days ago. Having read more of the book#its presence became absolutely unavoidable after reading the labyrinth chapter#the fear is entirely irrational but I can't for the life of me sleep facing the wall with my back agaisnt the rest of the room#and I keep opening my eyes every few minutes of unrest to check on the closet. Pitch black. No door. A little behind the wall#and facing the foot of my bed#all the time telling myself this is stupid and I haven't been afraid of the dark in over a decade and a half#I'm a grown ass adult#and I'm having trouble sleeping in my room over nothing#had to turn on the closet light one time and left it like that until morning#and last night it was better but I left my bedside lamp on and dim the entire time...#......stupid book
