Atmospheric hit that begins with a high-pitched scream and is based on briskly advancing riff rhythms. Choirs in the chorus. Bright, friendly, danceable.

Spillways

Outrageously flashy eighties keyboards, otherwise lovely rocking singalong with occasional demonic breaths.

Call Me Little Sunshine

Second single. Sombre in verses and chorus, but catchy. In the second half guitar solos, organ opening towards the end.

Hunter's Moon

First single. Again faster and brighter, strikingly varied instrumentation. Catchy in the chorus, dark interlude and ending.

Watcher In The Sky

Dark, sombre pompous beginning. Stomping rhythm with eighties flair, experimental dark phase with squeaking guitars. Halfway through, anthemic with choirs. Exciting, cinematic hit candidate.

Dominion

Solemn instrumental interlude with dominant harmonies.

Twenties

The soundtrack of a decade. Marching introduction with brass and drums. Very sombre (also vocally), in the chorus alternating with gentle female choirs. Opulent, partly hymn-like orchestration - experimental, but exciting.

Darkness At The Heart Of My Love

Love ballad. Beginning with a soft voice and atmospheric guitar. As the song progresses, emotional and intense, at the end children's choirs drive the mood to extremes.

Griftwood

Begins with a guitar solo with a clear eighties flair. The chorus is catchy and sweet, flanked by prominent Yes-like interjections. Striking middle section with keyboard and choirs, then the guitar solo takes over. High sing-along potential.

Respite On The Spitalfields

... epic finale. In places reminiscent of 'Rats', an anthemic opening with melancholic guitar solo. Throughout, instruments and vocals create a grandiose mood - off into the unknown!

Conclusion: Varied and atmospheric. Ghost rely on a few easy instant hits and go more in depth (instrumentally and emotionally). After one listen, it is clear that this will pay off - though it remains to be seen what greatness IMPERA will grow into.
