The Executive Director of Sports, Chris Van Puyvelde has announced the new backroom staff members that will be joining Martinez’s reign. 

Assistant manager: Graeme Jones

Second assistant manager: Thierry Henry

Head of Team and Individual Fitness: Richard Evans

The Royal Belgian Football Association has decided to terminate Vital Borkelmans's contract. He has been the assistant manager of the Red Devils since 2012.

Mario Innaurato (physical trainer) and Serge Borlee (liaison officer) has also left the national team staff.

The Federation has thanked them for the work they have done and wish them success in their future endeavours.

Appointments of new Red Devils staff will be announced by the Federation in due course. 

STAFF CHANGE | Johan Walem is the new Young Devils coach

Johan Walem (44 years old) succeeds Enzo Scifo as the coach of the U21 national team. The other members of staff remain in place. 

Walem has previously held this position between 2012 and 2015 before moving on to manage KV Kortrijk.

Sports Director Chris Van Puyvelde is delighted with this decision, “We met Johan Walem, who said he was very interested in returning to the Federation to train our youth. He knows his way around and with his professionalism, desire and experience, he will be able to continue developing our youth and work perfectly with the staff of our other national teams.”

For his return as the head of the youth, Johan Walem will begin with two qualifying matches for Euro 2017 on Friday, 2nd September in Malta and Tuesday, 6th September against the Czech Republic at the Oud-Heverlee Leuven stadium.
