Okay!Â
Soooo, about the most recent developments in SSSS, it’s time for theories again! Spoilers and rambling below.
I am still sticking with my theory of the two cures. However, with Pastor A. presumably being a troll instead of a ghost, I’m going to have to semi-discard the idea of the two cures being responsible for passive ghosts and murderghosts only.Â
Instead of creating different types of ghosts only, one cure arrests the physical component of the Rash, creating the murderghosts. The other cure arrests the spiritual component - a body cure and a soul cure respectively, if you so will. (And I think this wasn’t just me hinting at it (point 2) in the comments when Pastor A. was revealed, it came up either in SynS over the weekend or somewhere else in the comments where I can’t find it any longer. So if that was you, poke me and I’ll add credit here.)
What follows:Â
1. People taking the body cure murderghosted. 2. People taking the soul cure died of the Rash or trollified just like any regular Rash victim would, except that they remained lucid. The lack of caretakers - the ones going missing from Amalienborg and Pastor A. trollifying - accounts for their notably early deaths.Â
3. Thus, and I suspect this is going to become a problem for our heroes: Pastor A. never actually helped any murderghosts move on, she merely helped the lucid ghosts of the soul cure for whom it was relatively easy to move on because they retained enough of their sense of self. (Her own problems remembering may simply be because of the passage of time, she has been there 90 years.)
4. Showdown? Yes. Solution? Nope. I'm pretty sure Onni is going to have to come in when things go south, because he was there at both major confrontrations and during the main encounter with Pastor A., although him shutting himself away makes him a bit of a wildcard and as Kira pointed out, he may also need to find Lalli. I’m suspecting that Sleipnope will absorb Pastor A. and the soul cure is going to have some effect - maybe granting her control, or granting Sleipnope some lucidity that’ll enable someone else to finish the job - maybe just not yet.
