lavender-and-creme said: I think Maisie has a good understanding of Arya. Not sure if she read the books though.
I think she has said her mom read them and gave her a summary of what happens.
i've been reading through your blog and though you say you've had no acting experience, i find many of your analyzations and advice very helpful. i don't think viewer opinions could get any deeper and more valuable than yours. i was wondering - what is your opinion on the actors for the stark children?
Hi anon. Thank you very much! You are too kind.
I really like the child actors. My favourite of the 4 has to be Maisie Williams. I think she started strong and continues to have a good performance. Once in a while she didn’t hit the mark, she wasn’t in her best moment this past season, but she recovered towards the end of it. Isaac is also pretty good, but unfortunately this season didn’t give him the right opportunities to show his skills. I think he wasn’t good this season, but was in the past ones. I saw nothing outstanding and that kinda disappointed me. I’m hoping he gets back on track next season. Sophie Turner is on the list of most improved performances in the show. She started really weak, having issues with her line delivering in terms of the tone and diction, but towards season 2 she worked on it and was able to overcome some issues she had. Her growth as an actress surprised me in 2 or 3 moments in season 3. I think she needs more acting training to polish her skills. She’s not always good, and sometimes her performance is flat, redundant and just very green, but she has her good moments. I would definitely like her to be more consistent. Finally Art Parkinson was cute and I liked his performance in this season. It’s hard for me to say whether I think he’s good or bad because we barely get to see much of him. I find his little crying moments good, but I’m not able to determinate if he’s good or bad in general just by that.
Thanks!
What do you think of Massie's acting skills? Personally, I see murderer in her eyes everytime
Hi!
I think my opinion can be summed up with this 3 asks: here, here, and here.
Thanks!
How do you think Maisie William's age (she's fifteen currently, I believe, and she's not get any younger) will affect Arya's storyline, if at all? In the books, it came across as *SPOILERS!* a child being emotionally traumatized and desensitized to violence. Can that same theme be explored with a teenage actress?
Hi!
I don’t have an issue with the age thing. Adapting a series like this had that “problem", and unless they recast the roles (I’d kill them if they do), they have to deal with it. What Arya goes through, or many characters go through, like Sansa, Dany, Robb, Jon…, always seemed like things that were too big for children or teens to deal with. So, the age thing seems more appropriate to me on the show, rather than on the books. If that makes any sense. Therefore, what Arya goes through is possibly, or at least for me, more according to an older character. Yes, we might miss that element of a young child surviving, and pretty much surpassing the expectations we might have for her, but I think it can be accomplished in a different way in the show. It can go from child to teenager traumatized and desensitized.
I don’t think Maisie will have problems with that part of the character, so I’m excited to see what she’ll come up with.
Thanks!

Also. Amusing thing. I don't think Maisie, Sophie, or Isaac received any formal schooling in acting while Kit and Emilia who both did go through drama school and acted in theatre before Game of Thrones. That being said, do you have a scale of acting talent between the five of them?
Hi!
No, the kids haven’t had a formal acting training. They have though, done some things related. Like dancing, or some kind of acting classes, since Sophie Turner has said so in some interviews, and Maisie Williams has said she takes dancing classes, and has some kind of training. They don’t have formal preparation, but they do have some sort of preparation. Idk about Isaac though, haven’t heard him say much about it.
The scale, hmmm let’s see:
M. Williams
Isaac Hempstead
Sophie Turner

Emilia Clarke
Kit Harington
Haha. The last two spots may vary. I have days in which I find her to be worse, and others in which he takes that place (of course just talking about these two actors, not getting into discussion others). Idk.
Thanks!
Bit of a fun request that will make you think, top ten best fighters on the show. =D
Hey anon. Let’s see…
Miltos (Syrio)
Iain (Jorah)
Kit (Jon)
Gwen (Brienne)
Maisie (Arya)
Jacob (GreyWorm)
NCW (Jaime)
Momoa (Drogo)
Richard (Dondarrion)
Rory (The Hound)
Special mention: Sean Bean (Ned)
I’m sure I’m missing someone.
Thanks!
What about Maisie Williams's acting do you enjoy? I don't mean to come off as rude, sorry, just genuinely curious but I just see her as being kinda blank and expressionless a lot of the time.
I think I’ll repeat what I said in the review, just because it’s what’s in my mind at the moment.
(…)Gave an excellent performance. I think what I most like about certain actors in this show, is their ability to show that sense of lost, of hopelessness, of despair. Her eyes conveyed she had no tears left, that she had no more strength to fight, to scream, or to cry. I even got these feelings from the bits we got on the trailer. And probably that shows how good her performance was, if she’s even able to transmit that, with just a couple of seconds of footage. (…)
(…)wow. Great performance. Her body language as she approaches the man, fixing her eyes in his neck, the tone of silly and innocent child as she says “but I’m hungry”, her face expressions as she says that line, the sassy pleasure in her face as she purposely drops the coin, the way she delivers “sorry” with an almost unperceptive disdain, followed by the way she trembles and almost whimpers and groans as she stabs this man, proves she won’t have a shred of problem when playing the following part of her character. In fact, it shows the exact moment prior to it. And to top that, with the way she fixates on the man, lying dead on the ground, and talks to the Hound, undaunted, yet fixated on what she’s done, and trembles as she passes the knife, with such ease, as well as picking up the coin, and giving one more time, a closing line as memorable as “Valar morghulis”, is proof enough, and a good set up, for Arya’s future, as well as proving Williams, is prepared for what’s come.(…)
For the rest I think you can check her tag. Maisie had weak moments this season, that mostly come from a forced line delivering during the scene with Melisandre, for the rest she was ok, with great performances for the season finale, and the episode of the Hound-Beric sword fight.
Thanks!
